Dew

Dew

After an essential first EP, Quite Needless is back with a fine follow up from Till Krüger. It’s a meditative three-tracker from the Stuttgart man that makes a fine return to form. Since 2010 he has put out well crafted EPs of deep house and techno that got played by everyone from Richie Hawtin to Laurent Garnier. Mostly releasing on the 200 label he is in great fettle here and cooks up some superb atmospheres and hypnotic grooves. Dew is eight minutes of gentle piano chords and soft rubber grooves. It’s meandering and thoughtful and has a finely sculpted synth modulation gently unfolding over the top. Lybl is a little more driven, with slightly more prominent drums but still a majestic sense of melody and harmony characterises this most unhurried and cerebral track. Last of all, Jolly has more tender chords draped over rolling house drums and the whole thing feels perfectly autumnal and romantic, introverted and warm. All three tracks here make a lasting emotional impact.
